The society is known as The Shoreham Airport Society. Its object is the promotion, preservation of the history of Shoreham Airport and aviation in Sussex, with the following aims and means:
MEMBERSHIP.
Membership of the Society is open to all people with an
interest in aviation, or the history of Shoreham Airport, except that the
Committee is entitled to exclude individuals, without explanation, should they
consider it to be in the Society's best interest so to do.
SUBSCRlPTION.
Members pay an annual subscription, the rate being
determined by the Committee.
Past meetings of The Society have involved talks by such speakers as an ex test pilot for the Harrier jump Jet, (click here to see report) ; representatives from the Westland Helicopter group and a representative of Croydon Airport. Visits have been arranged to places such as The Science museum, and Hendon and Duxford air museums.
| The Society publishes a quarterly magazine.This contains articles written by members and "Experts", and details of the club's programme and activities. The articles usually relate in some way to the Airport and its past and present role in aviation, and areas of interest to aviation in general. It often includes items dealing with historical ephemera and events. This magazine is free to members. |
